Sonoma CROP Hunger Walk Sunday, May 1, 2011
CROP Hunger Walks are sponsored by Church World Service and are held in nearly 2,000 U.S. communities each year.
They are held for two purposes:
1) to raise awareness about people around the world who must walk to find food, water, firewood, freedom and other necessities of life, and 2) to raise funds to help stop hunger wherever it exists. 75% of Pledges from "Walkers" will go to CWS for their work in combating hunger around the world and 25% will stay in Sonoma to be given to FISH, the Brown Baggers and the Redwood Empire Food Bank. To make a donation or sign up as a "Walker", click on the "Sign up/Register for Walk" link on the right. The Sonoma Walk is in its second year as an Interfaith and community organization venture and all those who would like to participate as Recruiters and Walkers are welcome to join in this effort. Please feel free to contact any of the following steering committee members; St. Andrews Presbyterian - Carol Werner, St. Leo's - Mary Pat Manning, Sonoma Mission - Diane Messing, Faith Lutheran - Judy Hill, Bernice Thorstenson, Shir Shalom - Michael Diamond and Peggy Feuer, Lauren Ayers, United Methodist Church, First Congregational Church - Joan Howarth, Kathy Jewell, Judy Landa, Dick Ridenour, Amy Seyms, Cathy Webber.
