It started with a dream, a dream of working together in our community to fight hunger--hunger here at home and throught the world. With the help of Church World Service, we began planning our first walk in 2009. We contacted Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County, and took it from there! 70 folks participated that year and we raised over $2,200.00! It was fun, but we knew we could do better.
This year, we tried to let even more folks know about the 2010 Pajaro Valley CROP Hunger Walk, and we're happy to say we met our goals! More groups participated, over 120 people walked, and we raised more funds to fight hunger. Congratulations to everyone involved in making it happen!
If you'd like to help us plan and participate in next year's 2011 walk, please call or contact our coordinator, Rev. Robin Mathews-Johnson, Pastor, Watsonville First United Methodist Church, 831-724-4434. Thank you for helping us fight hunger!!
